For those of you with young kids or grand-kids, this card will make you smile! I have a niece that just turned three and when we attended her birthday party my mom made her a beautiful handmade card with a raised banner that said “guess who’s turning three”. Well…being three…my niece immediately started picking at the raised piece of paper and wanted it to come off!
For her actual birthday my brother (her dad) asked if he could commission me to make a card he could give her. As we were brainstorming ideas he said an interactive card with pieces she could take on and off that would be right up her alley.
In order to create this I used a leftover piece of cardboard from a box and glued various animals I had stamped. A lot of these are retired stamp sets but you can get the horse from the Barnyard Babies stamp set. I used the cardboard so it gave the paper structure and thickness that little fingers could grab.
Next I needed to create a background that the pieces could attach and detach from. I encased the light purple paper you see in left over clear packaging that Stampin’ Up thinlits come in. I used my temporary fuse on the back of the animals so they will stick to the clear plastic over and over again!
With some personalized touches on the front of the card and a homemade envelope using the Envelope Punch Board I delivered my order and had fun hearing the stories of my niece enjoying the card!
